    Centos 5 - Linux Kernel 2.6.17 - 2.6.24.1 vmsplice Local Root Exploit

    Hi,

    Linux kernel version from 2.6.17 to 2.6.24.1 are all affected by latest vmsplice bug. Users with shell access can exploit this bug to get root access to the server. Updated kernel packages that fix this security issue are now available for RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.

    We will be updating the kernel in all CentOS 5 servers with the patch and reboot the server once this has been completed.
